2015 Lincoln MKC
2015 Lincoln MKC Review
Brantford - Just West of Hamilton & South of Kitchener & Cambridge
The 2015 Lincoln MKC is a venture into the unknown for the luxury marque. It's the American automaker's first foray into the compact luxury crossover market and hopes are high.
The design is good. Even though it's based on the Ford Escape, it's different enough to have its own identity. It's also more luxurious to warrant the price premium and has the kerb appeal to make it a worthwhile investment if you want something a little different.
From the front, it couldn't be nothing but Lincoln. That signature twin grille with integrated headlights is right there for all to see. A smaller intake at the bottom, and some LED running lights add a little extra character.
The sides are simple, with some smooth shapes and a high waistline. The rear offers a liftgate and a single light cluster that runs the width of the car. There is definitely a taste of the Audi Q7 here, but that's no bad thing.
On the inside the 2015 Lincoln MKC is as luxurious as you would hope. The leather interior is sumptuous, the dashboard filled with technology and everything has quality written all over it. Lincoln did a good job specifying and building this interior and we like it a lot!
Along with other Ford interiors, this one has been simplified, but in a good way. Gone are those fiddly controls and back are good old knobs and switches. The center stack has an 8 inch touchscreen that has MyLincoln Touch with voice control, which is nice.
Under the hood is one of a pair of four cylinder engines. A 2.0-liter turbocharged version with 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque and a 2.3-liter version with 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. They send power to the road via a six-speed automatic transmission. Both provide enough power to make driving the 2015 Lincoln MKC a breeze.
There arethree trim levels available on this new MKC, Premiere, Select and Reserve. The MKC Premiere offers 18 inch alloy wheels, leatherette interior, reversing camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, MyLincoln Touch, 8 inch touchscreen, auto lighting, cruise control, keyless entry and engine start, HD headlights, LED running lights and a nine-speaker audio system.
Select adds 18 inch premium painted wheels, full leather interior, power adjustable front seats, ambient interior lighting, power folding mirrors, garage door opener and a cargo cover.
The range-topping 2015 Lincoln MKC Reserve adds 18 inch polished wheels navigation, power liftgate, blind spot warning system, cross traffic alert, built-in modem and ventilated front seats.
As a first foray into luxury crossovers, the 2015 Lincoln MKC is pretty good. As a standalone family vehicle with a touch of luxury, it hits the mark perfectly.
