2015 Ford F150
2015 Ford F150 Review
(For Sale @ Northway Ford Brantford, between Hamilton & Cambridge)
The Ford F150 is still the most famous truck in North America and probably the best-selling one too. It's also changing completely for the 2015 model year. In fact, we would say that the 2015 Ford F150 is going to be one of the most important shakeups in trucks for a long time.
What's changing? A new aluminum body for starters. Gone is the steel and gone is almost 700 pounds in weight. The "military grade" aluminum alloy is the first large scale use of the material in automotive history. It's lighter and stronger and has changed the F-150 forever.
The chassis is also stronger and lighter too. According to Ford, the ladder chassis is 54 percent stronger and 60 pounds lighter, adding to the slimming down of the F-150's girth.
From the exterior, the truck is still definitely a Ford and definitely and F-series truck. The slab-sided design is still there, with huge front grille, big blue oval and flat hood. The simplicity adds a handsomeness that we have come to love and will continue to do so we think.
If you saw the Atlas concept a year or so ago, you'll know exactly what to expect from the F-150.
The interior of the 2015 Ford F150 is still the same sturdy, ruggedly built cabin we know and love. It has also had the new model treatment by using better materials. It's still chunky and solid, but has a more comfortable feel than before. There is still acres of room, lots of storage and great visibility, it's just nicer than before.
There are four engine options. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 is all new and is being heavily marketed as the motor to have by Ford. There is also a 3.5-liter EcoBoost, 3.5-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8. Ford have yet to release performance figures for these engines, we will update you as soon as they do.
Suffice to say that in a truck that weighs almost 800 pounds less than it used to, both pulling power and gas mileage should be much improved from previous models!
There will still be three cab options for the 2015 Ford F150. The Regular option, SuperCab and SuperCrew will all have XL, XLT, King Ranch, Lariat and Platinum trim options with a raft of technology and comfort features throughout.
New technology available this model year includes a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), LED lighting, Sony audio, traffic alerts and an off-road package in the FX4 trim.
