2015 Ford Edge
2015 Ford Edge
The second generation Ford Edge is ringing in the changes. To celebrate its success in Asia and its release in Europe, the 2015 Ford Edge now offers something a little special. It has a new design, new suspension, upgraded interior and new safety features too.
The 2015 Ford Edge is longer and taller, offering more passenger space than before. The windshield and rear screen is steeply angled to compensate and to increase that space. Despite the size increase, this new Edge is about 50 pounds lighter thanks to lighter materials.
The overall design is familiar to current Edge owners but different at the same time. As well as the size changes, the Fusion-esque look is increased with the big grille, angled headlights, fluted sides and wheel arches. The entire package now looks more refined and elevates the appearance to handsome.
The changes and improvements abound on the inside too. The materials are improved, the shapes enhanced and the overall appearance has been simplified but in a good way. Ford took on board feedback about fussy dashboards and confusing controls and have pared it all back. Now we're faced with just what we need all wrapped up in a slick, shiny package.
There are three engine choices, a four-cylinder EcoBoost and two six-cylinders. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost is all new and produces 245 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque from its twin turbos. A 2.7-liter V6 will drive the Edge Sport with around 320 hp, although numbers have yet to be finalized on this motor. A 3.5-liter V6 will complete the lineup with around 265 hp.
Drive will be send to the front or all wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and driving modes.
The 2015 Ford Edge will have four trims, SE, SEL, Sport and Titanium. While the specifics of each trim level has yet to be announced, we know the basics. All Edge will come with front camera, parking assist, power liftgate, heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, My Ford Touch or SYNC with an 8 inch touchscreen.
As this is a worldwide model, safety has been increased to meet demand. All new 2015 Ford Edge will feature blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and automatic braking and inflatable rear safety belts as standard.
Ford will be releasing the 2015 Ford Edge early next year. Pricing and final specifications have yet to be announced, but we expect it to remain around the same price as the current model. Keep an eye on our website for more details.
