New 2014 Ford Escape
New 2014 Ford Escape Review
For Sale at Northway Ford Brantford (between Cambridge & Hamilton)
The 2014 Ford Escape is one of the best SUV crossovers on the market. We don't say that lightly either considering we sell a range of them from different brands. It's stylish, offers decent levels of comfort, great interiors and has that Ford quality we all know and love.
New for 2014 is the inclusion of reversing cameras and Ford Sync across all vehicles.
This is the second year the "new" Ford Escape has been with us and what a year it has been. It's still a best-seller and still impresses us with its design, good looks and quality build.
The exterior of the 2014 Ford Escape looks very much part of Ford's global strategy. It has a very European aura about it. It shares the very capable Ford Focus platform and styling cues, while also being completely its own vehicle. It's modern, rakish and ideally suited to the contemporary market.
Inside, that Ford familiarity continues with an interior that looks as though it has been lifted directly from a Focus or Taurus. The materials quality is good, sound-deadening is very effective, the driving position is upright and commanding and the controls are all where they should be.
The center stack is well equipped, head and legroom is plentiful and there are lots of storage options too. Ford interiors are a known quantity, in a good way. They offer refinement, low road noise and plenty of technology. Ideal for this segment.
Under the hood are three engine options. The standard 2.5-liter four cylinder produces 168 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. A 1.6-liter turbocharged EcoBoost produces 178 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque and a turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost delivers 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Each is mated to a semi-automatic transmission that send drive to the front wheels. All-wheel drive is an option.
The 2014 Ford Escape is offered in S, SE and Titanium trim. The Escape S offers the 2.5-liter engine, air conditioning, power accessories, rear camera, Ford Sync, cruise control, keyless entry, steel wheels and a six-speaker audio system.
The Escape SE uses the 1.6-liter engine with the 2.0-liter as an option. It also offers 17 inch alloy wheels, power driver's seat, automatic lighting, fog lights, body colored trim and SiriuXM radio.
The range-topping Titanium trim adds 18 inch alloys, leather interior, heated front seats, climate control, MyFord Touch, ambient interior lighting, power liftgate, fog lights, keyless entry and ignition, parking sensors and a premium Sony audio system.
The 2014 Ford Escape continues where the redesign left off. There is lots of equipment, the engines are capable, road manners are good, comfort levels are great and the ownership experience will be everything you want it to be. That makes it a winner in our book!
