New 2014 Ford Edge Trim Levels

2014 Ford Edge Review
For Sale @ Northway Ford Brantford (between Hamilton & Cambridge)

The 2014 Ford Edge is designed to fit comfortably between the Escape and the Explorer in Ford's SUV lineup. It's the ideal middle ground between crossover and full size SUV and is a vehicle our customers seem to like.

The styling of the Edge is chunky, modern and sleek all at the same time. It's a difficult vehicle to sum up in a sentence as it's many things to many people. However, it is a handsome beast and we have no problem at all parking it on our driveway.

Inside is much the same picture. It's definitely modern inside the 2014 Ford Edge. There is lots of technology, plenty of soft touch material, not much road noise and lots of refinement. Ford interiors have come a long way in the last decade and that advancement is epitomized in the Edge. MyFord Touch is now available across the range and SYNC comes in all but the base model.

There is plenty of room inside the Edge too. Seats are upright, well positioned and offer visibility and legroom in equal measure. The driving position is commanding, the colour screen in the instrument panel is clear and easy to use and once you're used to SYNC, controlling everything by voice is a breeze.

There are three powertrain options for the 2014 Ford Edge. The standard 3.5-liter V6 that produces 285hp and 253 lb-ft of torque is still relevant and still delivers. The 3.7-liter V6 ups the power a bit at 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The optional engine of choice though is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost that's good for 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque.

All send the power to the front wheels, or all wheels as an option. A six-speed manual transmission is standard.

There arefour trims available for the 2014 Ford Edge, SE, SEL, Limited and Sport. The Edge SE offers air conditioning, 17 inch alloy wheels, CD audio power accessories and cruise control. The SEL adds Ford SYNC, climate control, adjustable driver's seat, reversing sensors and SiriusXM radio.

The Edge Limited adds upgraded Sony audio, heated front seats, leather interior, rearview camera and power adjustable driver's seat. The Edge Sport adds the 3.7-liter engine, black leather interior, 22 inch alloy wheels and black exterior trim.

The 2014 Ford Edge continues where previous models left off. It delivers a great drive, good road manners around town and offers decent levels of luxury and technology. Combined with a competitive pricing structure, we think the Edge is definitely worth considering if you're in the market for an SUV.
