How you can Find the Value of your car in Burford
How you can Find the Value of your car in Burford
Posted on August 4, 2021
Of all the elements of buying and selling cars, valuing your old car is one of the trickiest. Thereās often a lot of emotion and memories ties up in a car and separating that from the actual value can be tough. As can coming up with an accurate price.
Our Burford auto loans team recommend several websites you can use to help come up with a price before selling your car to a dealership.
Used car pricing
You have more sources than ever before to assess market rate for used cars. The market is more open than ever with car price websites, online marketplaces that sell cars and thousands of makes and models for sale across Canada.
To get the most accurate value, identify the same make, model, trim, year and mileage as your car. As all these things can impact value, comparing like for like is the only way to get a true value.
Then check out the values on one of these websites.
Auto Trader
Auto Trader is one of the largest car websites in the world. It has thousands of cars across Canada covering the widest range of makes and models.
It also has a useful search feature where you can add the make, model, year and trim. This makes finding values easy.
Carfax Canada
Carfax Canada has a specific price finder tool on their website. You can enter the make, model, year, trim, postal code, mileage and add any extras to provide a fairly accurate read on what itās worth.
You can even add the VIN number of your car if you want to and it will provide as close to an accurate price as possible.
Kelley Blue Book
Kelley Blue Book is one of the default methods car dealerships and auto traders will value cars. It, alongside Canadian Black Book, can value your car fairly accurately as well as provide a trade in value and show what similar cars are selling for.
Just add the make and model, search for the car and then refine by year and anything else you might need.
eBay
eBay, Craigslist and other marketplaces all sell cars. eBay is easier to use as you can filter out the cars you donāt need fairly easily. Set the filter to reflect your carās details and look at average prices in the province.
This should give you a reasonably accurate price of what cars sell for privately.
Selling your car to a dealership
Remember, the prices you see your car for sale at wonāt be what the dealer can offer. We will need to buy the car and then pay for reconditioning, mechanical checks and whatever is required to prepare it for sale. That all has to come out of the price we offer.
We will pay more than ever when you sell your car to a dealership but it helps to know what to expect!
