Both the 2015 Ford Mustang and 2015 Dodge Challenger have advanced in years and appeal while remaining true to their roots. It's a hard thing to do, change it up while still appealing to your core audience. Admittedly, the Challenger is closer to the original than the Mustang, but the pony car is still beautiful to behold.
So let's relight the fire under an ancient grudge match and pitch the 2015 Ford Mustang against the 2015 Dodge Challenger.
The advance of the turbo engine is fine for normal cars, but not for muscle cars. Fortunately, both models have V8 options still in their inventory. The performance figures are mixed, with the Mustang putting out less horsepower than the 392 Challenger, but more than the Challenger R/T.
The Hellcat is has an unbelievable 707HP while the Ford GT Premium will have 435HP. However, a basic Mustang V8 delivers 300 HP while the Challenger R/T offers 375 HP.
We're real fans of the modernity of the new design as it still tips its hat to the muscle cars of old while looking completely new. Those who love purely heritage designs will of course disagree.
If old school muscle car styling is your thing, you're likely to love the 2015 Dodge Challenger instead. Don't get us wrong, we love it too. It's an almost impossible balance to strike, modernity and history and the Challenger gets it just right. However, we think the new lines of the Mustang are spot on and will please all but muscle car purists.
The interior of the 2015 Ford Mustang and 2015 Dodge Challenger are very close in terms of quality, technology and style. Both offer leather, touchscreens, good finishing, supportive seats, great visibility and soft touch materials.
Both have raised their game in terms of materials and finish and it's tough to tell between them. So we won't.
The 2015 Ford Mustang is a good 300 pounds lighter than the 2015 Dodge Challenger. While it won't make much difference off the lights, it will be noticeable when all other things are equal. While the V8 engines of the Ford offer more power, the Dodge V6 switches the tables.
Both transmissions are good, with manual options offering quite a driving experience. Both also have decent road manners, okay cornering ability and are comfortable during longer journeys.
Both the 2015 Ford Mustang and 2015 Dodge Challenger are exceptional muscle cars with different target markets. Both offer exactly the kind of driving experience you would expect while forcing no real compromises. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
