2014 Ram 1500 versus 2015 Ford F-150 Brantford in Brant County
The 2015 Ford F-150 and 2014 Ram 1500 are the heavy hitters of the light truck world. They are best sellers, great performers and offer value and ability in one. If you're in the market for a light truck, choosing between the two can be a tough call.
To hopefully make that job a little easier, let's pit the two head to head, 2015 Ford F-150 versus the 2014 Ram 1500 and assess them where it matters most.
The Ford F-150 sticks with what it knows best, a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 that produces 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. It's a solid engine with proven reliability and capability. The turbo is smooth and offers better gas mileage than before.
The 2014 Ram 1500 uses either a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that produces 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque or a new 3.0-liter diesel engine that delivers 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.
The new look Ford F-150 is fantastic. It's clean, modern and reflects the changes wrought through Ford over the past couple of years. It's also practical, with simple panels, a decent load bed and a rugged simplicity that draws the eye.
The 2014 Ram 1500 is also a good looking truck. It's more angular than the Ford but has more chrome, a more complicated hood and a more swept windshield too. It's nice to look at but it could be a Ram from any of the last few years.
The interiors of the 2015 Ford F-150 and 2014 Ram 1500 are harder to call. Both have made great strides in design, workmanship, materials and technology over the past few years that it's too hard to call between them.
Both have plenty of space, technology, storage and practicality. The options list is huge too. We'll call this one a draw.
Both the 2015 Ford F-150 and 2014 Ram 1500 are comparable in performance. The Ford EcoBoost engine is frugal, powerful and smooth. The new aluminum panels have dropped weight without compromising strength and the ride is enviably plush.
